We are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2024 Chapter One Writing Competition, proudly sponsored by the Black Writers Workspace and Direct2Author.com. This year’s competition showcased remarkable talent in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, reflecting the diverse voices and stories within our literary community.

This year’s Chapter One Writing Competition, organized by the Black Writers Workspace under the leadership of award-winning author Michelle Jackson, has solidified its status as a pivotal platform for emerging literary talent. The collaboration with Village Care Publishing has further amplified their mission to connect indie writers with greater publishing opportunities.

Chapter One is a writing competition designed to showcase written works of art by self-published and unpublished Black writers. Now in its fourth year, the competition provides cash prizes, awards, free or discounted book marketing services, review board feedback and access to traditional publishing opportunities.
